Are you a skilled Fitter and Machinist looking to elevate your technical expertise in the hydraulics industry? We are currently seeking a self-motivated professional to join a great team based in Darwin.. This is a pivotal role where you will contribute to high-level service work, ensuring machinery is repaired to the highest standards while continuously expanding your own specialized skill set.

In this position, you will be part of a team dedicated to excellence and innovation in hydraulic power transmission systems. You will play a vital role in both workshop-based manufacturing and on-site mechanical repairs, providing critical support to a diverse range of industrial customers.

About your next role

  • Conducting specialized mechanical tasks associated with machinery repair and maintenance
  • Operating lathes and machining equipment for the manufacture and repair of mechanical components
  • Performing TIG, MIG, and Stick welding for basic mechanical equipment repairs
  • Traveling to remote job sites to complete essential on-site works
  • Interpreting engineering drawings and identifying spare parts requirements
  • Inspecting and assessing jobs to provide accurate quotes for customers
  • Supervising apprentices and sub-contractors on-site as required
  • Ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently while maintaining a safe and clean workshop environment

What you will need to bring

  • Proven experience as a Fitter and Machinist with a strong mechanical aptitude
  • Proficiency in operating lathes, machining equipment, and various welding tools
  • The ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
  • A self-motivated approach to learning and a desire to participate in specialized hydraulic training
  • Strong communication skills to assist in training apprentices and other staff members
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to maintain accurate records

Mandatory Requirements

  • Relevant Trade Qualification in Fitting and Machining
  • Valid Driver’s License for pickups and deliveries
  • Right to work in Australia
